A  meeting of the Expert Group on Social Determinants and Health Inequalities was held in Luxembourg on the 26th and 27th November, 2007.

 

The  agenda covered aspects of the new  EU Health Strategy (2008-13), including the  principles, Values, Objectives and selected actions, particularly where these relate to health Inequalities.

There were a number of presentations from new projects with a mental health angle, including:

  • DETERMINE- an EU consortium for action on the socio-economic determinants of health, by  Caroline Costongs  from EuroHealthNet
  • Healthy Stadia – exploring current good practice and promoting good health within sports stadiums,  by Mike Parker, From Heart of Mersey
  • PROMO – best practice in promoting mental health in socially marginalized people, by Stefan Priebe from QMWC, University of London
  • Healthy Regions – looking at health as an investment and getting an overview of regional Health competencies, by Henriette Hansen from Health Regions, South Denmark European Office
