DG-SANCO Stakeholder Involvement Conference
SUPPORT attended the recent Stakeholder Involvement Conference, held by DG-SANCO to discuss the outcomes of its ongoing 'Healthy Democracy' process.
The event brought together around 200 stakeholders form across the areas of activity of DG-SANCO, and discussed the contents of an accessible 'synthesis report', which aimed to summarise discussions in an accessible format for stakeholders.
The meeting heard commitments from Commission Kuneva and from the Deputy Chef du Cabinet of Commissioner Kyprianou to take forward the actions in the synthesis report, and stakeholders and commentators were broadly pleased with the efforts DG-SANCO has gone to to make this process transparent and accessible.
Mr. Madelin, Director General of DG-SANCO called on stakeholders to remain engaged, and urged the participants to use the stakeholder involvement website to engage with the process. He is shortly to issue a call for membership of a stakeholder peer review group, to advise the Directorate General. This call will go out before the summer break.
